Two minute read.

In my last post, we talked a bit about Congruency. We open here with the antonym of Incongruency.

That’s a word that can bring us into a sense of deep disconnection.

Instead Of :

  • Seeking to understand, we Condemn
  • Forgiving, we choose to remain Angry
  • Giving, we continue to Consume
  • Hoping, we become Apathetic

The bottom line here is that we seem complacent. Complacent to be who we are not, rather than who we were becoming.

None of us are exempt from this. It is a common human reality.

Listen to the Apostle Paul on this in Romans 7:15

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Essentially Paul is saying to us, it is difficult to BE ME, the real ME, the new ME!

This raises a couple of critical questions:

  • How do I Interpret, Pursuing the Life of God?
  • How can I translate this new life into being a New Me?

And that begins, first and foremost with the Right Message.

Jesus made staggering promises about His ability to transform human lives!

Think about this. You and I need a God who is confident about His Mission and Message.

Let everyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scriptures have said, streams of living water will flow within him.” John 7:37-38

You and I have found in our own journey this sense that there can be a gap between God and Us. The problem is that we’ve misunderstood how that gap is bridged. Somehow we have been convinced that we are supposed to bridge the gap by trying harder. You can define that as self-reliance.

Self Improvement is no more God’s plan than Self Salvation. Compare this matrix with what Jesus said in John 7.

Thirst creates a need that must be dealt with or we find ourselves slowly but surely missing the Message Jesus was offering. One must be thirsty to discover a new way of living one’s life. Jesus goes on and says to us; whoever believes in me. The word in the New Testament is; Pisteuo = to entrust your well-being to. Finally, Jesus declares – streams of living water will flow from within you

If we bring our thirst and our belief  to the table then that third item: streams of living water will flow from within him becomes a fait accompli.

You and I need to get better at letting God be God

We need to trust Him to do what He clearly is in control to do.

Join us next week to look at the right MEASURE and the right MEANS that Jesus has put in play.
