Two minute read.
Thankfulness and Generosity in the context of the Christian’s life are Spiritual matters. Paul told the Ephesians that; The Spirit’s work is to help us grow in our capacity to know God.
Capacity = Comprehensiveness, which means we have an expanding ability to KNOW! And, of course, the Hebrew use of that word – Know is about sharing the life God has given us to share life with others.
It is interesting to work through this because what happens is we begin to find our SOUL at work, our SOUL developing!
“Let yourself be pulled into a way of life shaped by God.” (I Peter 1:14)
What an awesome statement from Peter. And as we stop to think, we realize that God is calling us into a conversation.
If you are going to:
- Upgrade your house you’ll need a Contractor
- Reform your physique you’ll need a Trainer
- Overhaul your engine you’ll need a Mechanic
Each one of these Relationships will require you to Communicate with the EXPERT! God has expertise in Soul Development. To be shaped by God begins with that conversation.
We have a Brain and a Mind but what is the difference?
- The Brain is an Organ, the Mind is a Gateway.
- The Brain keeps you alive, the Mind allows you to live.
- The Brain is a notification devise, the Mind is a communication devise.
But most importantly, the Mind is a vital Spiritual link with God himself.
Someone once said: When your heart is right your mind is clear.
The eyes of the Lord searches the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. (II Chronicles 16:9)
God is seeking people who have hearts that are expanding in capacity to allow Him in.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (Rev. 3:20)
Gregg Boyd said; The Mind, for us, is where we have that first and forever conversation with God.
That must be true because we came back, and back, and back and back!
The Shape of Life – growing in our capacity to know God in our lives, the life God longs for, is the GROWTH we long for each day.
We’ll pick up on that come Thursday this week.
