Two minute read.

It dawned on me last weekend how much more we need to engage around these two words; Christian Americana.

At Life Community Church, we came to believe in this mantra years ago; We Will Not Participate In The Race To Nowhere.

With the help of others, over a number of years, you and I BECOME who we are together.

We begin a New Way to BE, a way to be Rooted into the enduring TRUTH:  And the More-Ness of LIFE, offers you and me, an opportunity.

It begins with those 3 words I left us with last week. Act, Survive, & Grow

  • To ACT is to perform, to take-on, to influence.
  • To SURVIVE is to persevere as well as to remain.
  • To GROW is to advance and to mature

These 3 words can make a way where there seems to be no way. And that of course, leads us back to doing something. Oh, I know, you and me have enough to do. Or, are we pretending? I know for myself that I can easily make an excuse in a New York minute.

But what if we challenged ourselves and said; stop pretending?

Outside of our lives is a World God created. What level of consideration do we apply to Life? How intrigued are we with where we are? What about Heaven, does that place really exist?

Now, a number of us might take umbrage at this. But consider this; You and me, us and them, we know so little about the Life beyond this Life.

However, think upon just these three items we all have in common.

  • We come from Somewhere.
  • We come from Somebody.
  • We are born into Something.

Right now, you and I are doing what everyone before us attempted. We are awaiting what’s next. Or, the writer Allan Jacob would use these words;

“Our era of relentless social media and soundbites has caused us to lose site of the past and our future.”

Perhaps Father Richard Rohr could help us here.

We do not think ourselves into a new way of living but we live ourselves into a new way of thinking.

Now that is what we should recall as – WISDOM!

Here at Life Community Church, anyone who comes can find a safe place where they can explore the questions and challenges of life with a framework of faith and trust with others on this journey.

Everything that is good and meaningful and powerful about human communication has a price. The price is worth paying.

Christian Americana has a lot to deal with in my opinion. So I close with this from Anne Lamott;

Some people wanted to get rich or famous, but my friends and I wanted to get real. We wanted to go deeper.

And Bono leaves us with this;

So much to ask of you and of ourselves, Battling for the Kingdom of God is REAL!

God’s Peace,

MC
