Two minute read.

At Life Community Church we do a Summer Collective with 12 messages focused on “stuff” that our people want to learn more about.

We do this because it comes at a time where we can build up what we’re putting down. And this works for many who are anxious about connecting with God.

Thus the four words underlined at the beginning – IS GOD FOR US?

One of the reasons that the Church in America seems to have lost her value in our Culture is; people aren’t seeking Relationships with a God who they think is against them.

We seldom migrate toward those who are not for US.

Has Christian theology promoted this idea that God is angry with His Creation and therefore Anger has resulted in His Judgement?

Instead of challenging this perspective many have simply accepted it must be true. Yet Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection makes it difficult to accept that God is not FOR US.

Those pesky Pharisees have arrived again to lay out their ideas which do show forth that this God is still angry at you and me. But we need not worry.

  • In Life Jesus revealed God’s “for-ness” towards us.
  • In Death Jesus substituted Himself in our place.
  • In Resurrection Jesus displayed the power for living a new way.

I simply cannot believe that “Anger” would be God’s emotional response in relating to ME! And I have come to this conclusion out of what I’ll describe as a “Living Theology.

Building a framework for understanding God comes from this journey of life WITH Him.

As a Follower I have grown to TRUST this God.

As a Father myself I have grown to FEEL somewhat like God feels.

But what about us trusting the Gospel? Do you believe that God is FOR you? That’s where we must begin.

Over the course of our lives, we understand that somehow we find ourselves Sinning, Failing, Posing, and Denying.

Our Curriculum Vitae, Our Resume, Our Reputation in life can tend to create the piles of stuff we come to believe which make us who we are. We’ve been told we need to balance out the scales.

We may have believed the religious ideal: The only thing that really matters to God in the end is that you worked hard and became a good person.

But there’s something really dangerous in that.

That’s Not The Gospel !

Join us in the next post to take a look at what the Gospel has to say to all of us moving forward into the life God has created us for.
