MY IDENTITY – PURSUED and CHOSEN
This piece for MY IDENTITY is about the outcome of being loved. The Apostle Paul writes this as a prayer which he deeply longs for the Ephesians to experience.
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being so that Christ may dwell in you hearts through faith, And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge.” Ephesians 3:16-18
Here’s why this passage is so important: Creation cannot love without its Creator!
MY IDENTITY :
I am a child of God
Redeemed by Jesus Christ
Loved, Pursued, and Chosen
According to the New Testament, you and I have been, as Paul noted…..rooted and established in love….. Paul is announcing that we have been – grounded. Our lives are protected and secured. Therefore:
If someone is protecting you, if someone is bringing security into your life, they have done so because they have CHOSEN to and they are PURSUING a relationship with you. God knows the real you and God is closer to you than we realize!Tim Keller told us this before he went Heaven: “Christianity is unique because it’s about God’s pursuit to draw us to Himself. Do you know of another faith based religion whose god is doing that?
Jim Feiker noted this: “God is the heavyweight in the Christian life.”
Our life in Christ is about :
- His Strength
- His Passion
- His Ability
- His Longing
- His Love
- His Resolve
Now let’s look at II Corinthians: If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation.
God’s pursuit becomes Threefold:
- To help us discover Who and Whose We Are!
- To help us see Why we are important to Him
- To help us understand Why we are critical to the World in Which He has placed us.
When these become clear, our life becomes NEW every day!
Our True IDENTITY is found not in What we do for Christ but in how closely our lives belong to Christ
Proximity and Participation in Life will determine how much Truth we live out in our lives. Remember this, our Faith is always rooted in our relationship.
Does the opportunity of experiencing the Life God has given to us excite us?
We have been CHOSEN, targeted for Re-Birth! Bringing us to a New Life of Real Freedom from the Inside Out!
