Two minute read.
We left with two questions on the 4th piece.
Where Are We Headed? and How Will We Get There?
At some point the seriousness of life captures us. As Paul challenged the Ephesians in his letter, there is a time to Grow up and Mature.
Here’s the deal with a Heart of Wisdom with the Mind of Understanding. We are never going to connect with these words deeply until we get RISKY about this God who created us.
The way we Feel (Heart) Affects the way we Think (Mind). And the way we Think (Mind) Affects the way we Feel (Heart). I hope that makes sense to us.
We know that the Heart and the Mind control different parts of our Human Existence, but they are intimately connected, marked by a warm friendship. Both are needed in advancing our ongoing relationships with God and our love of Jesus.
Jesus said:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
We need to unpack those 4 words because indeed they are
Words that Create Worlds.
Jesus is serious, beyond compare, Love God Inclusively. That adverb lives in the global approach to all mankind. It should be embracing, universal, and comprehensive.
It was the BOSS , who gave us Everybody’s Got a Hungry Heart
“Everybody needs place to rest
Everybody wants to have a home
Don’t make no difference what nobody says
Ain’t nobody like to be alone”
Bruce Springsteen
“We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.”
God allows for us to make some Plans to our Course. You and I have some IDEAS but God the Father Provides, then Prepares, and finally Establishes our steps. All of this to ensure we are onboard with the Creator. Again, we have some thoughts and God tweaks them.
WHY? Because the condition of our Heart Affects Everything else in our Lives!
Let’s close with Jefferey Curtis from ReThink
Guarding your heart means that we are continually making sure our heart and our head are aligned. It means that what we know to be true is what’s setting the direction of our heart.
Brother Curtis is spot on if I may say so!
Guarding your Heart is something we should do every day because our hearts are constantly under attack. The Enemy of our Life is working daily to erode our Lives.
The Holy Spirit has been called to send us messages to challenge and change our steps. Ask yourself right now, what security measures are you taking for your Heart?
The word guard in the Proverbs is in the Present Imperative which means a command to make this a habitual practice.
At the end of it all, you and I are responsible for the condition of our Hearts.
