Two-minute read.
The word Kardia in the Bible is mentioned over 300 times. It is the word we use in English for HEART.
Jesus pointed out the condition of man’s heart in Mark 7 while the Pharisees approached Jesus about washing one’s hands. These guys were channeling Leviticus while they had God Incarnate right in front of them!
They asked: Why don’t your disciples wash their hands before eating?
Here comes Jesus in Mark 7:6-8 and He does not use, should we say, niceties:
Isaiah was right the he prophesied about you hypocrites. These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.You have let go of the commands of God and are holding onto the traditions of men.….their teachings are but rules taught by men….holding onto the traditions of men.
This has always been…and continues in our time. We Human Beings can’t live without sharing our thoughts in order to grab others to follow us. I find it to be true that everything God has created is in proper relationship. But many of us fail to accept that without being challenged.
Seriously, life works when we are in rhythm with God. We take this rhythm for granted in our day to day lives. What if we actually tested it with others in our relationships?
Let’s conclude with this.
Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of
life.
Here’s the Deal! There is nothing more important to God than us… you and me. There is nothing more important for you than… above all else guard your own heart!
WHY?
Because this is where we find our Source for Living Life. Remember those 3 words we have used in this Heart of the Matter

- Define
- Determine
Let’s close with this piece from C.S. Lewis:
“Christianity is a statement which, if false, is of no importance, and if true, is of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important.“
