Greetings friends and those who have stopped along the way to read this blog post. My name is Mike Cooke and I write primarily about LIFE @Talk Ain’t Cheap.

My primary approach begins with a question, How are we pursuing the life we are living?

In order to gather and curate for us specific questions and answers I choose to utilize a large group of organizations, authors, and articles in order to underwrite our pursuit of the life we are living.

I hope I haven’t lost any of you yet! Stay with us for these next 6 minutes by reading through one simple pursuit – that of caring for others in your life.

I am a patron of the magazine Common Good, a periodical that helps Christians and those interested in Jesus’ message of – loving your neighbor as yourself.

How are we pursuing the life we are living? I talk a lot about this at the church I founded, Life Community, in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

On the back cover of the 8th production of Common Good we read this:

“Look around and you’ll see plenty of challenges, broken stuff. That’s the easy part. But seeing what could be and making it so, well, that’s the good work.”

Well said, Common Good. And yet, the New Testament seems replete with Jesus’ own challenges to us. His reason is to ask of us to simply care for our neighbor.

To challenge of course is to care. And in my own world, I see people who push back from opportunities. We all can find a reason to run away from that which is so needed in our concentric circle of influence.

Posted my study I have a simple 5 letter sentence which I have used as a dare:

Be Alive To Life Today.

It sits right next to my writing desk. I cannot escape those 5 words regardless how often I might want to.

Now, back to that concentric circle of influence. While it can be difficult to make an excuse, it can also be the best thing you or me can do for the individual who needs caring, caring from another ready to help.

Don’t beat yourself up, God has plenty for you to accomplish on this Earth.

I believe God looks at our spiritual hearts and assigns us that which fits us.

Seriously, try it out.

Use those eyes to see and ears to hear, trusting Jesus by seeing what can be and making it so!
