Two-minute read.
I don’t know about you all, but I spend a lot of time reading through the Book of Proverbs. Below you will find two of my favs!
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
There is a way that seems right to a man…
That man has already come to God with his desires and he has already considered what he (man) wants to do. There should have been a woman there to help this man in some way. I bet God would have yelled, “Thank you woman, thank you!”
From Barnes Notes on the Bible: The way of the fool, the way of self-indulgence, and self will
“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Prov. 16:9
And once again, let’s take this sentence and work through it.
From ConnectUS:
“It is right to plan to a certain extent, but the kind of planning that is not good is the arrogant kind that desires its own way and has expectations for how things are going to go.”
Try that and see what happens!
We need to stop Striving to be Spiritual and Start making ourselves Present to God, who is SPIRIT. As John 1 noted; In him was life and that life was the light of man. John wasn’t referring to Light as a candle, torch, fire, Sun, etc. John is speaking metaphorically about Spiritual Enlightenment. That word was photino – to bring to light.
When we hear that word: enlightenment we sometimes think of Buddhism or Hinduism not Christianity. How very sad for us Left Brain Westerners to disregard the full counsel of God (check out Paul’s piece in 1 Corinthians 2)
If our WHEN is not happening then God moves to remind us that; all truth is God’s truth. If our WHEN ain’t happening, God doesn’t give up, He moves in closer!!
His proximity can be felt by anyone who professes Christ as Lord. If you seldom if ever Partner with God, God keeps asking you WHY? It’s not like he leaves us to rot in Hell, but you will feel the decay on Earth now.
This isn’t because God is Sadistic. It’s because we choose to place our lives outside the Protection God has Prepared for us. Think about it like this. Thinking about sheep, they love to run away until they run into a lion, right?
Seriously, I’m just going to get honest here. Don’t be a sheep!
God made us for Himself and others, and He did that because relationships change our lives; Think of it as – The Light of Life.
Blessing – MC
