One minute read.

In a prayer for his friends in Philippi, Paul wrote these words to encourage their journey.

Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 1:6)

That second word that Paul shared with us meant, and still means –Rely from inward certainty.

The church at Philippi is 10 years old and they exhibit what Paul had expected and perhaps even more. Common experiences often will move forward, not backward.  And I must note that it is not like that so much in the Church today. At Philippi however, a group of people, connected by Christ, experienced God’s faithfulness.

In this age, one might even consider, looking back at those three words; connected by Christ. Imagine, trusting in Jesus.

Actually, there is no better definition of the Church, than what we are reading here in Philippians 1:6.

As I was finishing my 5th year at Columbia International University, we had to write our Senior Message and then speak it to a number of peers and if I am not remiss, I recall that Dr. Terry Powell (my fav.) gave me a B+. I regress!

Anyway, I remain as a Philippians 1:6’er, As we connect, (and that is the key) God’s faithfulness flows.

That my friends is forward progress, as they will say on the Saturday and Sunday football games come Fall.

Let’s just leave it there for now. Allow God, though the work of Paul, to challenge you these next couple of days. Look to God and know that He is looking to you.

Blessings – MC
