Two minute read.

We finished The Miracle of You -2 as we looked at two men; Saul and David. The difference between the two was amazingly unbelievable.

Sometimes we simply step back and wonder, what about me?

I deeply believe that God longs to draw us into the arena of true life. And that begins our journey, a journey of you and me following this God.

Perhaps you have as I have, run into others in our lives, those who seem to have simply run head on into this God.

In my 69 years I have met a number of individuals, both women and men, who showed me how to allow God to do what God wants to do in my life.

I want to share one of those special people with you if you’d take the time to read through a story from his life. It is a story about my son, Bryan.

He was a baseball player. He loved the sport. We had moved to Columbia, SC. for me to go to Columbia International University.

Bryan started playing for a new coach, Micky Lawler. Micky had won a number of state championships in Alabama.

At 11 years old Bryan made the All Stars team for South Carolina.

Coach Lawler told me that Bryan had skills that were literally amazing.

The team Bryan played for had made it to the finals. We sat down on the bleachers awaiting the start of the game. Coach pointed at me that he wanted to talk with me before the game started.

Coach told me that Bryan would not be starting. Before I could say a word, Coach said to me; “We are holding Bryan back because the opposing pitcher is the best pitcher in the State of South Carolina and Bryan is not scared of any pitcher. We will hold him out until the time is right.

In the bottom half of the 7th inning, Coach put Bryan on deck  as a pinch hitter. There were two outs and two runners on base, We were down by two. Dad, that’s me, is sweating profusely. I would not have wanted to be Bryan that day. He took the first two pitches, both strikes!

I looked down the bleachers at all the parents looking back at me, their eyes saying: What’s up with Bryan?

Bryan takes two more pitches, balls on the outside corner, Dad is sweating even more profusely.

The pitcher throws a breaking ball (wrong choice) and Bryan, who went by the nickname BOOG, hits a line drive off the right field wall sending the two runners home and tying up the game, as BOOG slides into third base.

Pandamonium struck on our side! The best pitcher in South Carolina was flummoxed to say the least. He throws the next pitch past the catcher and without hesitation, Coach sends Bryan home and we WIN!

Coach Lawler looked at me and said; “I told you so!”

There are times in our lives that we cannot keep from celebrating. I jumped onto the metal fence and climbed up to the top shouting, crying, and looking for Bryan as his teammates jumped on the BOOG!

When I got to him I hugged him, a little too long for an 11 year old winner.,

Then he said; “Pops can we go to the House of Pizza?”

I think God longs to honor and reward us as we pursue the life God has for each of us.

When we talk about stuff like this, we are literally talking about playing a game of comparison.

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

Looking forward to the climax in our Miracle of You upcoming.
