Two minute read.

Brother Luke caught Jesus going into the Temple. Actually I don’t think Luke accompanied Him there, but the adolescent Jesus himself decided to stop off at the Temple on the way home.

I was thinking, is that what a “12er” would want to do? Well, not most of them to be sure.

According to the custom, Mary and Joesph missed him but figured that he was in the group somewhere. You know, you’ve had new young teens, they’ll show up sooner or later, right?

Later that day, having not seen him in the group, they began a rescue to grab Jesus. It took them 3 days before they found him. Jesus was hanging out with the teachers, asking questions:

And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when his parents saw him, they were astonished.Luke 2:47-48

Now, that word astonished, we don’t see it again in Luke 2. In fact Mary gave him a little down in the country, check it out in Luke 2:48-52:

And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.”

So Jesus responded to his Mom.

And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?

Well, it seems that the family headed back to Nazareth and according to Luke, Jesus was submissive to them.

As we close from this second piece, I want us to listen to Mary and then to Jesus. Allow these two to stop long enough once they were back home to work through what had occurred and perhaps even more.

And his mother treasured up all these things inner heart.” Luke 2:19

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.Luke 2:52

From this time on, these two would continue as Mother and Son but we have now felt the change that will begin for both of them.

See you with the final piece this coming Thursday.
