2 minute read.

Hey guys. Here and there, now and then in our adult lives we can find ourselves conducting a flurry of activity focused on filling a VOID.

Something has happened. Something has gone wrong. Something we’ve done has created a problem.

A problem that requires us to fill the VOID in order to fix the VOID.

Does that ring true for us from time to time?

We have a way of trying to brush things under the table as they say, in order to not get caught. We know that to be accurate with the kids, but adults? Yes we adults create VOIDS!

Jesus once noted in John’s Gospel that; the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. That thief was very good at creating voids in all of our lives. Thankfully, Jesus did not leave it at that. He shared as well a way to overcome that VOID; I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Parker Palmer wrote that; We have to be honest with ourselves about where we are on this journey of life. Palmer side steps trying to convince us that in order to fix the VOID, we have to be honest with ourselves.

in 1978 Billy Joel, in his second album, 52nd Street, wrote the song Honesty, a gripping song dissecting the lack of shame in our society.

Honesty

Let a troubadour like Joel dust up for us a well known problem we all admit to at times, dishonesty.

I may have just lost some of you with dishonesty. People don’t like to deal with this, me included, but in order to find honesty in our relationships we’ll need to understand what creates in us a negative desire that can lead to sin.

The more you read my blog, the more familiar you’ll become with three crucial words that lead to building relationships at LCC; Conversation, Connection, and Community.

Inside of the 3 C’S, these three progressive words, I believe we can find a way to overcome through letting go, surrendering as needed.

In Genesis 3 (The Fall) we find how we too attempt to do life separated from God, the giver of life itself.

Take The Next Step is a series we shared a while back at Life Community Church. I want to write about that during the next several blog posts.

Beginning next week we will be doubling down with two posts weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I hope you’ll find these helpful. Please share with us your thoughts about where we are headed.

In closing, Billy Joel’s – Honesty

If you search for tenderness

It isn’t hard to find

You can have the love you need to live

But if you look for truthfulness

You might just as well be blind

It always seems to be so hard to give
